28 Day Song Challenge – Ghost (Day 26)

Gotta make this another quick one – busy, busy day but got to say goodbye to some awesome people and even got to have a guitar jam session at 2am. Thought this track was gonna turn out a lot shittier then it actually did! Time for bed, see ya tomorrow.

28 Day Song Challenge – 3am (Day 25)

Alright I’ll keep this short: I’m moving out of my apartment in two days, losing my voice, trying to finish up two video projects, and trying to say goodbye to the people I care about before I move out of Los Angeles. In other words, I didn’t have 7 hours to spend working on a song today.

So I just made the simplest of beats (just keyboard and cello) and freestyled over it. Man, I really wish I could take the time to do my last few songs right but in-between moving out of LA and leaving for Colombia, I think that’s gonna be downright impossible. Okay I said I’d keep this short, wish me luck for the next few days. I’m gonna need it!

28 Day Song Challenge – Can You Hear Me Now (Day 24)

Yes, I’ve always wanted to have a song with an answering machine intro. Now I can check that off my list!

Also got to kick it with my talented friend Jarell Perry tonight (www.jarellperry.com), fresh from the studio. He’s doing the singer songwriter thing right now and filled me in on what it’s like trying to make it in the industry – and what it’s like making good, not shitty, music. Awesome hanging out again man, keep doing big things!

28 Day Song Challenge – One Way Flight (Day 23)

Alright, so it’s not exactly a one way flight, but I am heading out to Colombia next week and won’t be back for a little while. Why not make a song about it right?

But for real, one of these days when I get better at this music thing, I will definitely make a good “up in the air” song. Plane flights have bookended some of the most important moments of my life. I’ll do it justice one day. Not today though haha.

28 Day Song Challenge – People Always Talk feat. Otavio (Day 22)

Another collaboration with Otavio (http://blackmarket.limewebs.com) – but this time, no imitation club bangers or Eva Longoria’s. Just two acoustic guitars. Mostly.

Tried to mix things up a little bit and add in a key change for the chorus. I think it kinda works. I love the “oh’s” in the background though. Wish we could’ve messed around more with that, but when you have to make a song a day, you don’t have too much extra play time.

That’s one thing I can’t wait for when this challenge ends: actual time to keep working on a song and POLISH it. Imagine that huh? Just a few more days…

28 Day Song Challenge – Sprinkle Accordingly feat. Yazmin (Day 21)

Got to unexpectedly team up with my friend Yazmin on this one. She invited me out to watch her do some spoken word poetry in Hollywood (she’s pretty damn good too). After the show I asked her if she wanted to help me finish a song and even though she’s never rapped before, she was completely down.

We pretty much made this entire song in the Hollywood & Highland Center parking garage (4 hours with validation baby) so forgive us if it’s a little rough. But big props to Yaz for helping me score free validation, you tricky devil you!
