Finally, after 10 days, I bring my trusty ol’ guitar into the mix. This might’ve been one of the fastest songs I’ve made so far (fast meaning still at least 3 hours), so while I’m on it, might as well make this the fastest blog post also. Bam!
Eva Longoria say wassup! My first collaboration and damn, it was fun as hell. I linked up with my buddy Otavio (check out some of his music at http://blackmarket.limewebs.com/) and we messed around with synthesizers and shitty freestyles til the wee hours of the morning. Wished we could’ve kept going, but there’s this little thing called sleep I keep hearing about.
Can’t wait to do some more collabs. Stay tuned, more coming very very soon.
Damn straight flu, you can’t stop me! I’ve got Safeway brand Pepto Bismol and I’m not afraid to use it!
Came back from the verge of death with this quick track dedicated to the flu that tried to kill me. I’m hoping I feel 100% by tomorrow and able to eat solid foods, not that there’s anything wrong with chicken noodle soup…
Also started reading this book I got from Amazon, called Music Theory for Computer Musicians. Seems perfect for a guy like me who can’t remember squat from my childhood piano lessons. Maybe this’ll help push my songs forward? I’ll keep you guys posted.
Day 7 is up and man, this was a hard one to get through…mainly cause I’m sick as hell with some sort of stomach virus. Ugh. I knew this music challenge would attack my immune system. But hey, I finished a week! Thank god. Alright I’m gonna go drink some water and pass out, but enjoy this flu inspired melody.
I feel like I just had a major rite of passage: got to make my first breakup song! Had a blast making this one. Once I found that crazy synth, everything else just fell into place.
In other music news, doing this challenge has gotten me in a super focused music state. I’m realizing that everything I do is centering around music – from conversations with friends to analyzing beats at bars.
And putting this challenge out there is helping me connect with a bunch of other music heads. I’m looking forward to a few kick ass collaborations this week. Can’t wait.
My first remix! I didn’t even plan on trying this but I came across a Youtube video of Kanye cutting up some samples and it looked like fun. I’m a huge fan of oldies and Under The Boardwalk is one of my favorite ones so I thought it’d be cool to try cutting it up.
I’m actually pretty happy with how this turned out, especially since I was having so many problems with the tempo from the get-go. I decided to ditch vocals this time (lucky you) and just jammed out for a minute. So much fun.
Song 4 y’all, and I tried to do something a little different with this one. I was going for that 1940’s type big band feel. Didn’t really work out the way I wanted to but hey, with 28 songs to worry about, I’m not gonna lose sleep over one of them.
